UP Police shot dead Kanpur gangster Vikas Dubey while trying to flee custody
A hard hit to the chest of the Kanpur gangster by the UP Police Force
Friday 10th July2020. The news of the gangster Vikas Dubey getting killed in an encounter is spreading like wildfire. Reports say that the encounter happened on Friday morning after he tried to escape and was shot by the police. Quite obvious, the encounter drew a flurry of reactions.
While some others said that Dubey met his fate what he had decided for himself back in time, given his long list of crimes and last week’s ambuscade that killed 8 police officers, some others dispraised the process of justice that was due for Dubey in a court of law, calling the encounter a failure on the part of UP police force.
What took place?
As per reports, Vikas Dubey was already informed about the arrival of the policemen for his arrest, and he organized the massacre of police men along with his associates. One among was a DSP. Since that day he protected himself from the fury of police. And the last time before the arrest, he was seen in Faridabad, Haryana. The reward money to get him arrested was Rs.60,000 increasing to 5 lakhs. And within 4 days, police has arrested his associates. Apart from this, his wife Richa Dubey and the other members was also arrested. He was arrested at a temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh yesterday.

Back in 1990, the first of the cases against Dubey was a physical assault, lodged at Shivli police station at Kanpur Dehat. 2 years later, he was charged for the murder of a dalit youth in the Shivli police station area; however he was acquitted in both the cases. Reports have been made that police filed a charge sheet in Santosh Shukla’s murder in 2002 and named 8 accused including Dubey and 3 policemen. All the accused and his name were acquitted again by a local court for want of evidence in 2003. And appeal was filed in Allahabad high court in 2005.
Back in 2001 Vikas Dubey allegedly chased BJP leader Santosh Shukla inside Shivli Police station in Kanpur dehat, and shot him dead in bright sunlight.
Having an FIR against Dubey, the accused surrendered after 6 months but was acquitted 4 years later. The gunner, shadow and personal stuff of the murdered man favored Dubey with their statements.
Apart from it, 2 years back to back in 1999, Dubey had allegedly killed a Jhunna Baba, seized his land and other properties. And in the year 2000, he was accused in the murder of his teacher and retired principal of the local Tara Chand Inter College, for which he was jailed for some time.
In 2002, he allegedly made an attempt on the life of his rival and Nagar Panchayat Lallan Bajpai, however did not succeed. Subsequently, Dubey was linked to the murder of a cable operator Dinesh Dubey who was allegedly killed over the dispute of about Rs.20, 000.
Having criminal records of 62 criminal cases against Dubey in U.P., including 5 cases of murder and 8 cases of attempt to murder, police have appealed tough laws against him. The UP Gangster’s Act, Gunda Act, and the National Security Act are on the list.
In addition to the allegations filed, the allegation continues.
Except for a case each in Saharanpur and Lucknow, all cases were lodged in Kanpur and Kanpur dehat districts. Police issued a statement that Dubey was booked under the narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances act in Saharanpur, and under arms act in Lucknow. But downhearted, he was acquitted in Saharanpur, however the Lucknow case remains pending.
Also, in the murder of retired school Principal Siddheshwar Pandey in 2002, Dubey was accused of conspiracy. The charge sheet named 4 persons including Dubey. However, a local court in 2004 granted life imprisonment to all accused. One of them is dead and the others are out on bail, as per the reports of the officer of Shivli police station.
And Finally the list of sins meets an end today, bringing solace to the Victims.
Constable Ajay Kashyap who was injured in an encounter at Kanpur’s Bikru Village on July 3rd, finds solace at the death of the Kanpur gangster. He says, after all that happened, public trust in police authority and government would restore.
Father of martyred constable Jitendra Pal Singh, who lost his son in an encounter at Bikru village in Kanpur on July 3rd, expresses his gratitude towards UP Police. The father (Tirath Pal) says he is proud, thereby thanking the administration and the Yogi government.
Urmila Verma, wife of another constable named Sultan Singh, who lost his life on July 3 while trying to get hold of Dubey, finds solace. Also says, Dubey could have been investigated.
